CANNIBAL COOKING - 30 Min. TV Comedy Program

ROLES: DIRECTOR • PRODUCER • ACTOR • ART DIRECTOR

• SET DESIGN • SFX ARTIST  • VFX ARTIST

Project Summary: An experimental dark comedy live-format scripted programme following the fictional character “Charles Mantis”, the Cannibal Chef, as he introduces audiences to his disturbingly unconventional recipes. Blending absurd cooking segments with a wholesome documentary-style history of his “mantis” cannibal family, it's disturbingly fun.

My Work: Directed and produced the overall programme, managing pre-production, rehearsals, live studio direction and on-set coordination. Led creative and technical workflows across departments, including crew management, production planning, risk assessments and safety procedures involving practical effects and sharp props. Also led VFX, practical effects and art direction, while writing the main studio script and coordinating dialogue/ camera positioning to ensure the live-format production operated smoothly, with no room for error.

The project was developed by a small team of lead departments, with the programme divided into separate creative sections. I directed and oversaw the overall production, while other team members managed their respective VT segments featured throughout the programme.

The production remained organised through detailed production documentation, plus always havinf some fun in thr process, for example camera notes were presented as menus to match the programme’s style and light tone.
